  • In Grinding, Coolant Application Matters

Even when a nozzle pressure of 58 psi (406 kPa) is required to match a wheel speed of 6000 fpm (18,288 m/min), a pressure of over 200 psi (1400 kPa) may be used. Often the engineer is grinding stringy and ductile materials, such as medical stainless, Inconel, and titanium, and they are seeing the benefit of wheel cleaning as much as cooling.

  • The back-end process: Step 3 – Wafer backgrinding ...

For wafers with diameters of 200 mm, it is typical to start with a wafer thickness of roughly 720 µm and grind it to a thickness of 150 µm or less. The coarse grinding typically removes approximately 90 percent of the excess material. A typical two-step backgrinding operation will use dual spindles with grinding wheels mounted on each spindle.

  • What Are The Requirements For Superhard CNC Precision ...

1.The grinding machine should have high precision. In the rotation accuracy of the grinding wheel spindle, the radial runout should be <0.001 mm, and the axial runout should be <0.005 mm. The main shaft bearing should be a dynamic pressure bearing or a combined dynamic and static pressure bearing, and a hydrostatic bearing can also be used.

  • Managing Grinding Forces and Abrasive Sharpness | Modern ...

When using vitrified or metal-bonded grinding wheels, these resistance forces lead to fracturing of the abrasive grain from the bond. In the case of organic- and resin-bonded wheels, the heat produced from the grinding interaction releases dull abrasive grains over time, exposing the new sharper grain beneath it.

  • Thoughts on reproducing a pre-1900 spindle - Page 2

Thoughts on reproducing a pre-1900 spindle. A reason t opt for the 4140ph is the taper socket. it may not really get much wear, but the 4140 in the prehardened form will take more than 1018, and takes a bit more abuse to get dings, etc. Probably worth the effort and $$ IMO. It looks like I might have a piece of 4140PH by this weekend.

  • Improve the Loading Capacity and Stiffness of Hydrostatic ...

Characteristics of hydrostatic spindle bearing depend on geometric parameters, oil properties, temperature and oil chamber pressure. The hydrostatic spindle bearing with four high pressure chambers has been designed and manufactured for the 3K12 external circular grinding machine with bearing diameter and length corresponding to 70 mm and 56 mm, respectively.

  • Portable Valve Spindle Grinding Machine / PVG - Chris-Marine

Portable valve spindle grinding machine for grinding of valve spindles on medium- and high speed diesel engines. The PVG from Chris-Marine is a valve spindle grinding machine developed for on-site grinding of all types of cylinder air-intake/exhaust valve spindles.

  • Good material for a grinder spindle - Practical Machinist

Just doing the numbers on a 1 1/2" spindle with .0005" clearance gives an air consumption of around 1.5 CFM with 500 psi supply pressure which is no problem. Bumping an air spindle at 30000 rpm would be instant destruction, I doubt it would go hydrodynamic as the clearance dropped under load.

In addition, bearing pre-stress, unbalance, and cutting force can be directly measured by monitoring the hydrostatic pocket pressure. The hydrostatic lathe and grinding machine spindles are suitable for applications on horizontal or vertical machines. They are available for belt-drive, direct drive, or as a motor spindle.

  • 5 Grinding Considerations for Improving Surface Finish ...

Scrubber nozzles are typically high-pressure (500-1,000 psi), low-flow rate nozzles that are targeted after the grinding zone to remove chips from the wheel structure. Chips can also stick to the grinding wheel, in some cases. This can happen in more aggressive grinding or when grinding certain metals that tend to stick to the grinding wheel.
