713 posts · Joined 2009. #4 · May 5, 2011. Use stihl oil. Buy them by the size the store has. The very small one will do 1 gal and the next size up will make 2 gals. Your dealer will appreciate and he can't say the problem is the wrong oil or mix if there is a problem. No guessing.

RT, Yes, you can use ANY of the gearbox attachments on your FC90. Your dealer should know better, print out the page you linked and show them. If that fails, find a competent Stihl dealer that will sell you the gearbox attachments. Let me just say my dealer is a bit.... eccentric. :laugh:
22 posts · Joined 2006. #1 · Mar 29, 2011. This on one has me stumped. I have a fs90r, about 3 years old. Always used stihl oil and good gas. It ran great until recently. It will start and idle fine. As soon as i give it full throttle, it will run for 4 or 5 seconds and then will die. If i let go of the throttle it will go back to an idle.

After 20-50 pulls, it'll start, then usually start great for the rest of the day, maybe several days, then hard to start again--all of this according to owner. I adjusted valves, a little too wide but not much.
